Your KWSP savings grow quietly every payday, but unless you actually log in and look, you won't know if your employer is paying on time, whether your nomination still points to an ex, or how your i-Invest units are doing this quarter. Checking your KWSP balance online takes less time than queuing for teh tarik, and in 2026 it all runs through one portal: i-Akaun. Here's exactly how to check your balance, nomination, and i-Invest status, using EPF's own app and website, no branch visit required unless you're registering for the first time.

What You Need Before You Start

Everything here assumes you already have an i-Akaun (Member) account, EPF's official digital platform for members.

If you're registered, you'll need your i-Akaun User ID and password, either on the KWSP i-Akaun app (Android, iOS, or Huawei AppGallery) or the i-Akaun (Member) web portal at iakaun.kwsp.gov.my.

Not registered yet? Skip to the section near the end — it only takes a few minutes with your MyKad.

How to Check Your KWSP Balance Online

This is the process EPF itself walks members through, whether on the app or the web portal.

  1. Open the app or visit the portal. Launch the KWSP i-Akaun app, or go to the i-Akaun (Member) web login.

  2. Log in. Enter your User ID, verify the security image and secret phrase (web) or use biometric login (app), then enter your password.

  3. View your account summary. Your Home screen shows your total savings, split across Akaun Persaraan, Akaun Sejahtera, and Akaun Fleksibel (or Akaun 55 and Akaun Emas if you're 55 and above).

  4. Download your statement for the full breakdown. Tap the download icon in the account summary, pick the year, and your statement — including contributions, dividends, and withdrawals — appears as a PDF.

  5. Save or share it. Useful for LHDN filings, loan applications, or just peace of mind.

Statements cover the past six years, including the current one. If you need anything older, you'll have to apply in person at an EPF office with supporting documents.

How to Check or Update Your KWSP Nomination

Your nomination decides who receives your EPF savings if something happens to you, so it's worth more than a glance every few years.

You can view your existing nomination through the KWSP i-Akaun app's Profile tab or the web portal. But making or changing a nomination isn't a pure online job: EPF requires a thumbprint verification at an EPF office to finalise it, even if you start the process in the app.

The alternative is filling in Form KWSP 4 and submitting it in person at any EPF branch. Either way, budget a trip to the counter if your nomination needs updating, not just checking.

How to Check Your i-Invest Status and Eligibility

i-Invest sits under EPF's Members Investment Scheme, letting eligible members transfer part of their Akaun Persaraan savings into unit trust funds through appointed Fund Management Institutions, all managed through i-Akaun.

Who's eligible: you must be under 55, a Malaysian, Permanent Resident, or a non-Malaysian who joined EPF before August 1998, with savings above your age's 2026 Basic Savings threshold. The transferable amount is capped at 30% of whatever sits above that threshold, with a RM1,000 minimum.

As an example from EPF's own calculation: a 25-year-old with RM24,000 in Akaun Persaraan (against a RM11,000 Basic Savings requirement) is eligible to invest up to RM3,900.

To check your status:

  • Open the i-Invest section inside the KWSP i-Akaun app or web portal for your consolidated holdings, fund performance, and transaction history.

  • For application status specifically, EPF says you can check through the i-Akaun app or its Contact Management Centre.

One timing quirk worth knowing: when you sell i-Invest units, the proceeds can take up to seven business days to reach EPF from the fund manager, then another seven days to actually land in your Akaun Persaraan. Your i-Invest holdings may show the sale before your EPF balance catches up.

First Time Registering for i-Akaun? Here's the Fast Version

No i-Akaun account yet means no online balance checks, full stop. Registration itself, though, is quick:

  1. Download the KWSP i-Akaun app and select Account registration or activation, then First time user.

  2. Insert or scan your MyKad and verify your thumbprint (this is the e-KYC step).

  3. Enter your mobile number and email address.

  4. Confirm your personal details and complete the on-screen steps.

Your EPF member number appears on screen once done, and a confirmation email follows. If the app route doesn't work for you, a Self-Service Terminal (SST) or any EPF branch counter can register you on the spot with your MyKad.

FAQ

Is checking my KWSP balance online free?

Yes. Both the KWSP i-Akaun app and the i-Akaun (Member) web portal are free to use, with no charges for viewing balances or downloading statements.

Can I check my KWSP balance without an i-Akaun account?

Not meaningfully. Full balance details require i-Akaun login. Without it, your options are visiting an EPF branch counter or a Self-Service Terminal with your MyKad for an instant printed or emailed statement.

Why can't I finalise a nomination change entirely online?

EPF requires thumbprint verification for nomination changes as an anti-fraud safeguard, so while you can start the process in the app, you'll need to complete it at an EPF office or via Form KWSP 4.

What if I forgot my i-Akaun password?

You can reset it directly through the KWSP i-Akaun app without a branch visit, as long as you still have access to your registered mobile number or email.

Are EPF dividends automatically reflected in my balance?

Yes. Annual dividends declared for the previous year are credited into your account in the current year, and they show up in both your i-Akaun balance and your downloadable statement.

Checking in on your KWSP savings, nomination, and i-Invest holdings is a five-minute habit that beats finding out something's wrong years later. Once you're logged in, it's worth doing alongside a broader money check-up — our guide on how to check your CCRIS and CTOS credit report is a natural next stop, and if you've got JPJ summons hanging around too, here's how to check and pay those online while you're at it.
